AEO Tracker privacy policy
Last updated 7 July 2026
AEO Tracker is a Shopify app operated by Wyuna Limited, a company registered in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). The app checks how AI chat assistants answer shopping questions relevant to your store and reports whether and how your brand appears. This page explains what data the app touches, why, and what happens to it.
What we read from your store
When you install the app, Shopify grants it read-only access to your product catalog (the read_products permission). We read your shop name, shop domain, store description, and product details (titles, types, tags, prices, and short description excerpts). We use this to suggest the shopping questions worth tracking for your store.
The app never reads your customers, orders, or payment information, and does not ask Shopify for permission to. Billing for paid plans is handled entirely by Shopify on your normal Shopify invoice; we never see your payment details.
What we store
- Your shop domain, plan, and the access token Shopify issues the app (stored encrypted).
- The tracking setup you approve: your brand name, the shopping questions being tracked, and the competitor names used for grading.
- The results: AI assistant answers to those questions, our grades of them, and weekly summary statistics.
- Emails you send to our support address.
All of this is keyed to your store and isolated from other stores' data, enforced at the database level.
AI providers we send data to
The product works by asking real AI services real questions. To do that, we send your approved shopping questions, and during setup an excerpt of your catalog (shop name, product titles and details), to AI providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Perplexity, xAI, and OpenRouter. We send them the minimum needed to run the checks. We never send them anything about your customers, because we never have anything about your customers.
Other services we rely on
The app runs on Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), and Inngest (job scheduling). Your data is processed by these providers as part of operating the app, under their respective data processing terms.
Personal data
The app is about products and brands, not people, so it holds very little personal data: the store contact details Shopify shares with the app on install, and any emails you send us. We do not collect or hold personal data about your customers. If Shopify sends us a customer data request or erasure request for your store (a GDPR webhook), we respond within the required window; since we hold no customer data, there is normally nothing to return or erase.
How long we keep data
While the app is installed, we keep your data so the dashboard can show change over time. If you uninstall, all scheduled checks stop immediately and your data is kept for 30 days (so reinstalling picks up where you left off), then permanently deleted. A store erasure request from Shopify (shop/redact) deletes your data immediately.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us what data we hold about you and your store, ask for corrections, or ask for deletion at any time. Email us and we will respond within one month.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged inside the app.
